This was some of the best sushi I've ever had! The place itself it pretty and cozy; it's the type of place that can feel both fancy and casual at the same time, which is my favorite restaurant atmosphere. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and enthusiastic. I got the miso soup to start, which was sweeter than I am used to, but it was really nice! Then I got my two maki rolls: tuna and yellowtail jalapeño. They were INCREDIBLE. The fish practically melted in my mouth and it was so flavorful. I've never had jalapeño in a roll before, but it paired nicely and didn't overpower the yellowtail at all. I do wish there were six pieces instead of four - not to get more because these rolls are substantial and PACKED with protein rather than rice, but just because they were a bit tricky to manage (or maybe my mouth is too small). I will absolutely be back!

The best sushi i've had in new york so far hands down. super fresh, great prices, fast service i will definitely be coming back. the matcha drink was also delicious, it was super sweet though so if your not a fan of that i would skip. my favorite roll here is the spicy tuna (it is a basic choice but it is 100% worth it) i live down the street from this location so it is so convenient, they also are on delivery platforms and do sushi boxes! looking forward to visiting again:)

I really enjoyed my experience at Mikado. Really good sushi at a great price. It was honestly shocking. The waitress was awesome and I enjoyed her enthusiasm. She made my experience fun and enjoyable. For being affordable, Mikado felt luxurious and for that they get 5 stars. The plating, decor, culture, was all outstanding and I plan on returning next time I'm in Manhattan.

Beautiful place. You step in a it feels like you step into a tropical environment. The service is ok. Not as accommodating as I had hoped being that a big mistake was made on my order the last time I was there. The sushi was good.. not great. Still a place to check out for decent fish and a good drink.

My friend and I made a reservation at Mikado for 7:30pm on a Thursday. The dinner rush had cleared by that point, so a reservation wasn't necessary. The interior has a nice aesthetic, so it would be a great location for a business dinner or fancy night out. We ordered a salmon teriyaki bento set ($30), a hand roll set ($29), gyu don ($24), and yuzu cheese cake ($4). I got the bento set, and I would not recommend getting this, unless you really are not a sushi fan (in that case, you really should go somewhere else). The tuna ball ($12 if ordered separately as an app) was very tasty and packed with flavor. The spicy mayo definitely had a kick, but it worked. I picked a basic tuna avocado for my hand roll, and the fish tasted fresh with nice natural flavor. The salmon teriyaki was the thinnest thing I have ever experienced, which meant that overcooking it was much easier. I got it because I knew the hand rolls would not be filling enough, but if you're here to splurge, splurge on the sushi. My friend enjoyed the hand roll set, but ordered the gyu don after still feeling hungry. The only critique I have about the hand roll set is their taco-style rolls are messy to eat. I got the cheesecake to have something to eat while my friend ate the gyu don, but it was nothing special. Service was polite, but my water went empty twice, and I had to ask for it to be refilled. If you decide to use small cups, you have to be ready do check-backs for refills! Overall, I would recommend Mikado for sushi if you are in the area, but it is not worth going out of the way for. You also have to accept the splurge, as the prices are in line with a financial district location.

I went for the lunch special by myself, 3 maki rolls for $17! Rolls were very well packed with fish (as oppose to just a bunch of rice), very favorable ratio. Would definitely come back to try some of the hand rolls and sets. Recommend stopping by if you are in the area. Staff was very nice.
